Deccan Chronicle profit rises 109 pc in FY'06

Mumbai, Apr 27 (UNI) Deccan Chronicle Holdings Limited (DCHL), publishers of Deccan Chronicle, registered a 100 per cent rise in sales in the financial year 2005-06 (FY06) at Rs 330.88 crore.

Net sales for the year ended on March 31, 2006 rose by 100 per cent to Rs 330.88 crore compared to Rs 165.65 crore during the same period last fiscal.

The profit after tax for the year surged by 109 per cent to Rs 66.87 crore from Rs 32 crore in the previous fiscal.

Net Sales for the fourth quarter (Q4) stood at Rs 89.50 crore, up by 90 per cent as compared to the corresponding period last year.

Profit after tax for Q4 jumped by 72 per cent to Rs 10.11 crore.

The Company expects its revenue to grow in the current financial year by around 40 per cent at Rs 460 crore to Rs 465 crore.

''For the next year, we are expecting the growth momentum to continue on the back of higher circulation and on account of planned increase in base advertising rates in both Chennai and Hyderabad,'' Company executive director P K Iyer said.
