CPI(M) candidate arrested for violating code of conduct
Kolkata, Apr 27 (UNI) At least six CPI(M) and three Forward Bloc workers were arrested today from Bijpur and Jagatdal Assembly constituencies respectively for allegedly intimidating voters.
Official sources said that earlier, CPI(M) candidate from Bhatpara constituency Harimohan Nath was arrested last night for violating code of conduct.
Polling was countermanded in Bhatpara Assembly constituency in North 24 Parganas district following the death of Bahujan Samaj Party candidate.
Election to the seat would take place on May 16.
An FIR was registered against the CPI(M) candidate.
He was, however, later released on a Personal Release bond.
