Court issues notice to Jail Superitendent

Mumbai, Apr 27 (UNI) A Special Court of Additional Sessions Judge Abhay Thipsay today issued notice to Byculla prison Jail Superitendent directing him to appear before it tomorrow in connection with grievances made by Zahira Sheikh, prime witness in Best Bakery case, for not providing medicines to her.

Zahira is undergoing one-year sentence, which was awarded by the Supreme Court on March 8, for contemept of court.

She had complained in this regard to a court's querry at the last hearing if she was getting mediciness, saying that she was not getting medicines as they were not available in the prison dispensary.

Thereafter, Additional Session Judge Abhay Thipsay had directed the court staff to send a notice to Jail superitendent to appear in the court tomorrow with medical report and reason why medicine was not provided to the prisoner.
