Cotton growers protest against delay in seed supply

Mysore, Apr 25 (UNI) Cotton growers in H D Kote town in this district of Karnataka today resorted to road roko in protest against the delay in supply of cotton seeds, DCH 3, by taluk agriculture office.

The irate protestors also forced shops, hotels, government offices, banks and educational institutions to close down and shouted slogans against the state government for its ''anti-farmers'' attitude.

The taluk agriculture department had supplied only 150 tonnes of DCH 3 cotton seeds as against the assured 205 tonnes.

Vehicular traffic was disrupted for some time in H D Kote taluk due to the road blockade.

Heavy security arrangements were made in the area to prevent any untoward incident.
