CII joins hands with AP, TN to fight against AIDS

Hyderabad, Apr 27 (UNI) Concerned over reports that the GDP will fall by one per cent because of AIDS by 2010, the Confederation of Indian Industry(CII) has launched an AIDS programme to curb the menace.

Speaking on the role of HR professionals in sensitising the Industry on HIV/AIDS here today, CII Andhra Pradesh Vice-President Pradeep Dhobale said the CII had taken up Industry Intervention Project in Tamil Nadu, Pondicherry and Andhra Pradesh, among other states.

As per the MoU signed with the Andhra Pradesh State Aids Control Socieity(APSACS) for a Business Coalition to Fight the epidemic HIV/AIDS, both would work together to sensitise the Industrial sector in Andhra Pradesh which was among the six states along with Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Nagaland and Manipur with incidence of two per cent among the general population, he added.
