Cheat posing as MCD employee arrested
New Delhi, Apr 27 (UNI) The Delhi police have arrested a person who, posing as an MCD employee, extorted money from the owner of a house on the pretext of allowing unauthorised construction at the premises.
45-year-old Umesh, a resident of Sahadara in East Delhi, was arrested by the police yesterday after he had extorted Rs 400 from one Rohtash Kumar, posing himself as an MCD employee, for allowing unauthorised constrction in his house at Babarpur in East Delhi.
On being asked to reveal his identity, Umesh flashed an I-card of 'Punjab Kesari' which had already expired. Thereafter, the police arrested Umesh on complaint by Rohtash.
Interrogation of Umesh revealed that he was unemployed and had resorted to the crime taking a cue from the ongoing demolition in the capital. He had previously also cheated a number of persons in the trans-yamuna area.
