A vote a minute in first hour in Belgachia constituency

Kolkata, Apr 27 (UNI) A-vote-a-minute was recorded in first hour of a polling booth in highly sensitive Belgachia (east) constituency where West Bengal Transport and Sports minister Subhas Chakraborty is pitted against his former disciple Sujit Bose of Trinamool Congress.

Vote in ward no. 75 in Nager Bazar began exactly 0700 hours and witnessed polling of sixty votes- thirty men and thirty women- in first hour.

Octogenarian voter Bimal Dugar soon after his reporting to the booth and an appeal to the para-military personnel on duty for consideration of his age was helped to cast the vote in the quickest possible way he ever had in his life.

Similarly the ward nos 76 and 77 in the same building of Town hall saw quick voting procedure almsot a vote a minute, although a huge line of the elector kept standing.

Women took the driver seat in outnumbering male voters in most of the polling booths in the constituency.

There was no report of any untoward incident from any polling booth of the constituency.

People stood in long queues to cast their votes.
