42 turtles seized in Katihar

Katihar (Bihar), Apr 27 (UNI) Railway Protection Force today seized 42 turtles at Kuretha railway station and arrested one person in this connection in the district.

Police said that acting on a tip-off, a sleuth of Railway Protection raided a bogey of 606 down Katihar-Malda passenger train and seized the live turtles concealed in a gunny bag.

One Shatrughna Singh was arrested in this connection.

During interrogation, he disclosed that turtles were being smuggled to Bangladesh.

Live turtles being smuggled to Bangladesh were also seized by the local police on earlier occasions.
