Yudhvir Foundation award announced
Hyderabad, Apr 26 (UNI) The Yudhvir Foundation 15th annual award would be presented to freedom fighter and former MP Raj Bahadur Gour on April 30, Foundation Secretary Vinay Vir announced today.
Talking to newspersons here, Mr Vir said the Foundation had selected Dr Gour for the award for his outstanding contribution in freedom struggle and public welfare works. THe award consists of a citation and an amount of Rs 20,000.
He said the Foundation was set up in 1991 to commemorate the life and work of late Yudhvir, who started the daily Milap in Urdu and Hindi in the city. The award would be presented to Dr Gour at an annual award function on April 30, the birthday of Yudhvir.
Dr Gour was a well known trade union leader, who was associated with Communist Party and also Vice-President of the National Council for the promotion of Urdu.
Mr Vir said the objective of the foundation was to establish an Endowment for the institution of awards to promote excellence in the field of literature, education, journalism, research and development, besides promoting educational, cultural and physical activities amongest the students in general.
