Superstition leads woman to watery grave
Kishanganj, Apr 26 (UNI) Guided by the indomitable will to attain ultimate salavation through supernatural power, a 28-year-old woman met her end in watery grave of Ganga at Maniharighat village under Manihari police station in Katihar district recently.
Police Superintendent of Katihar Manohar Prasad Singh said the woman from Muraliganj village in Madhepura district was cajoled by one Dinesh Mandal (an exorcist by profession) into taking a dip in the Ganga for attaining salvation last Monday.
'' You will attain divinity and super natural powers once you dip and stay put for some hours, '' she was told.
The woman, Arora Devi, met her watery grave as scores of villagers and relatives witnessed the 'holy act' amidst beating of drums and blowing of conches.
But much to the surprise, her body was seen floating over the water after five hours, official sources said.
A police team had been sent to Muraliganj to nab the prime accused in the case, Dinesh Manal. An FIR had been lodged against more than ten people with the concerned police station in this connection.
Arora Devi, a married woman is blessed with three children.
