Nepal: Speaker Taranath to resign from his post
Kathmandu, Apr 26: Speaker of Nepal's Pratinidhi, Taranath Rana Bhat, is likely to resign from his post after the Nepali Congress (NC) -- the largest constituent of the Seven-Party Alliance-- expressed doubts about his suitability for the post.
Highly placed sources in the NC told UNI that at the party's meeting last night, lack of confidence in Mr Bhat was expressed charging him with being close to King Gyanendra. However, no formal proposal was adopted, they added.
The sources said Deputy Speaker Chitralekha Yadav was the obvious contender to succeed Mr Bhat.
However, Mr Bhat was not available for comment and people at his house said he had taken no decision yet.
