Mumbai, Apr 26: Rupee opened slightly weaker at 45.01/03 per US dollar as compared to the last close of 45.00/01, said the dealer in the foreign exchange market.
Rupee traded at 45.05/06 in the mid-morning session despite improvement in fundamentals, the dealer added.
The crude oil price in the New York Mercantile Exchange (NYMEX) softened to USD 72.72 per barrel, still very high level for the Indian economy and will continue to weaken rupee.
The Indian equity market was making good recovery from the losses in the last two days this morning with a gain of 168 points on BSE Sensex to 11,815 around 1115 hrs.
Upward move of the stock market might bring support for the rupee which was quite volatile yesterday.
