New Delhi, Apr 26 (UNI) Delhi Metro Rail Corp has offered a reward of Rs 25,000 to any person who gives details about a passenger who unauthorisedly operated fire extinguisher on the Barakhamba Road- Dwarka train this afternoon, causing a delay in services for more than 20 minutes and forcing the train to be taken out for maintenance.

The incident took place at 1410 hrs today between Janakpuri West and Uttam Nagar East Metro Station when a passenger unauthorisedly operated a fire extinguisher inside the train on the Barakhamba Road - Dwarka Line. This triggered panic among the passengers who tried to force open the emergency exit, which in turn activated the emergency brakes, a DMRC statement said.

This caused a delay of 21 minutes. Subsequently the train was withdrawn from service and taken to the Najafgarh Metro Depot for immediate maintenance.

DMRC announced a reward of Rs 25,000 to any person who gave details about the passenger who unauthorisedly operated the fire extinguisher as it was a punishable offence under the Metro Operation and Maintenance Act.

Other passengers who were traveling in the train at the time of the incident were requested to come forward with details about the miscreant so that such incidents can be avoided in future.
