No bird flu sample positive in Indore

Indore, Apr 26 (UNI) Health authorities today said no sample from this district has tested postive for bird flu and no report of deaths of fowls received in the past one month.

The statement comes amid fear that a sample in this district's Budhana village contained bird flu. The district administration is alert in view of the fear.

Veterinary Services Commissioner Rajesh Rajora told UNI that the veterinary directorate had not received report regarding a sample from this district testing positive.

He said no such information has arrived from the state capital-based High Security Animal Disease Laboratory (HSADL) or the Centre.

The district administration was conducting intensive surveys continuously. A total of 253 samples from across the district were sent for testing to the HSADL this month.

Reports of tests on 3,605 samples from the state had been received so far. Barring one sample from Ichhapur village in Burhanpur district, none has tested positive.

He said movement of poultry products from 26 routes through Maharashtra and nine routes through Gujarat had been banned, while intensive survey was being carried out in nine districts, including in Indore and Ujjain divisions, adjoining the two bird flu-hit states.

Meanwhile, the district administration is alert amid fear that a sample in this district's Budhana village contained bird flu.
