Minister rules out corporatisation of PSEB

Jalandhar, Apr 26 (UNI) Punjab Energy Minister Lal Singh today ruled out the possibility of corporatisation of the Punjab State Electricity Board(PSEB) in near future.

Talking to reporters at Manko village near here Mr Singh said that the PSEB had been functioning well and the state government did not feel necessary to change its structure.

However, under the Power Reform Act 2003 the unbundling and corporatisation is mandatory for all state electricity boards and ultimately Punjab has also to follow the same path.

But for the time being the state government had taken exemption from the drill from the Union Government till June next year, the Minister said.

The government might contemplate to seek further extention in this exemption period, he added.
