Massive security arrangement for Rae Bareli bypoll

Lucknow, Apr 26 (UNI) Elaborate security arrangements have been made for the May 8 Rae Bareli Lok Sabha bypoll, from where Congress president Sonia Gandhi is seeking a re-election.

UP Director General of Police (DGP) Bua Singh held a review meeting of top police officials for the bypoll.

The meeting decided to deploy 12 companies of armed police, including 11 companies of Provincial Armed Constabulary (PAC) and 10 companies of central para military force (CPMF).

As part of security arrangement, 6 assistant SPs, 13 deputy SPs, 7 inspectors, 513 sub-inspectors, 426 head constables, 3,622 constables, 3,039 home guards and 876 chowkidars would be deployed for the crucial bypoll.

The entire constituency, meanwhile, has been divided into five zones each under the command of an additional district magistrate and additional SP, official sources said here today.

255 polling centres have been identified as hyper-sensitive, while 273 been categorised as sensitive and 315 as normal.

The district borders would be sealed on the polling day and police deployed at every three km in the constituency.
