Manish Khatau acquitted in a rash driving case
Mumbai, Apr 26 (UNI) A local court today acquitted leading industrialist Mahindra Khatau's son Manish in a rash driving case owing to ''contradictions in evidences by the witnesses''.
On August 14 last year, Manish's car had dashed against a police barricade in which police constable Jitendra Rokhade had received severe injuries on the head. Manish was driving towards Walkeshwar at that time and was accompanied by two friends.
Manish was booked for ''causing grievous hurt to a public servant while dischaging his duties'' and ''attempt to murder''.
Additional sessions judge A U Thuse today acquitted Manish since there was contradiction in the evidences by the witnesses.
Earlier, on August 23, the sessions court had granted bail to Manish and had permitted him to go abroad to pursue further studies at Regent's College in London.
