London police examine suspect packages
LONDON, Apr 26 (Reuters) Police closed off parts of west London today and called in explosives officers after being alerted to several suspect packages.
Police advised motorists to avoid the Shepherds Bush and Hammersmith Grove areas of the city.
''There is nothing to suspect that they have been placed on buses or the transport system,'' a police source told Reuters.
The packages are all believed to be above ground and are possibly in shop doorways with no attempt at concealment.
Police said they were alerted by members of the public. No further details were immediately available.
In July last year 52 people were killed when four suicide bombers blew themselves up on the city's transport system.
