New Delhi, Apr 26 (UNI) Jammu and Kashmir High Court Judge Permod Kohli has been transferred to Jharkhand High Court ''in the same capacity,'' it was announced today.

Justice Kohli is to assume his new charge by May 9, a Law and Justice Ministry statement said.

The transfer was ordered by President A P J Abdul Kalam after consulting the Jammu and Kashmir Governor and Chief Justice Yogesh Kumar Sabharwal, the statement said.

Dr Kalam acted in exercise of powers conferred on him by clause (1) of Article 222, read with Article 222 (1A) of the Constitution which is applicable to Jammu and Kashmir, the statement said.
