India to host IOSCO conference in 2007
Mumbai, Apr 26: India will host the annual conference of the International Organisation of Securities Commissions (IOSCO) next year to create awareness on the indian capital market among the 181 member countries of IOSCO.
IOSCO is an international cooperative body that promotes an uniform high standards of regulation and governance of the national securities commissions of the member nations.
The 181 members of the Organisation currently regulate more than 90 per cent of the world capital and securities markets and IOSCO today is the world's most important international cooperative forum for securities regulatory agencies.
According to Ms Jane Diplock, Chairman of the IOSCO executive committee, India has been growingly recognised as one of the advanced regulatory capital market in the world and the conference of IOSCO in India would help its members to know closely on the regulatory and surveillance aspect of the securities and exchange board of India (SEBI).
IOSCO has adopted a comprehensive set of objectives and principles of Securities Regulation which is recognised by the world financial community as international benchmarks for all markets.
