Former Law Secy Heads Copyrights Board

New Delhi, Apr 26 (UNI) Former Law Secretary Raghbir Singh has been appointed Chairman of the Copyrights Board, an agency to adjudicate copyright-related disputes, replacing B K Sharma, it was officially stated today.

The 15-member Board is a quasi-judicial body formed under the Copyright Act 1957, and will have a five year term with effect from April 5, a Human Resource Development Ministry statement said.

The Members include a Joint Secretary in the HRD Ministry and another in the Law and Justice Ministry's Legal Affairs Department, the statement said.

It also includes Law Secretaries to Haryana, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Goa, Kerala, Bihar and Uttaranchal, and Directors of five law schools at Karnataka, West Bengal, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Andhra Pradesh, the statement said.
