15 KMC corporators break away from ruling front, form separate group
Kolhapur, Apr 26 (UNI) Fifteen Kolhapur Municipal Corporation (KMC) members, loyalists of city Congress MLA Malojiraje, today broke way from the ruling ''Tararanee Front'' and formed a separate group ''Shahu Swabhimani Front'' in the civic body.
Announcing this at a press conference here, Mr Malojiraje said the new group will maintain its separate identity but will work jointly with the Janasurajya Party-NCP alliance.
Mr Malojiraje said the fifteen corporators had broken away from the Tararanee Front as they were sidelined in the decision-making process. He too, in his capacity as the city MLA and group leader, was never consulted on important issues, Mr Malojiraje alleged.
Mr Malojiraje alleged that although he had brought various issues concerning the development of the city to the notice of the Tararanee Front leaders MLC Mahadevrao Mahadik, MLA Satej Patil and Mr Munna Mahadik, his suggestions were ignored.
He said a meeting will be held with the Janasurajya Party-NCP alliance leaders to decide on the development works to be undertaken in the city.
Mr Malojiraje alleged that the Tararanee Front, led by Mr Mahadevrao Mahadik for the past fifteen years, had not undertaken any major developmental work in the city.
This is the second jolt received by the Tararanee Front within eight days. Earlier ten corporators had quit the Front and joined the Opposition group led by Janasurajya-NCP alliance. However, two of them had returned back to the Tararanee fold.
