UPCA registers second consecutive win

Lucknow, Apr 25 (UNI) Uttar Pradesh Cricket Association (UPCA) registered their second consecutive victory in the Sheesh Mahal Cricket Tournament for 'Sahara City Homes Cup' on the second day of the nine day championship.

In the other match, Orissa Cricket Association (OCA) registered a big win over Cricket Association Lucknow (CAL).

At the K D Singh Babu Stadium, OCA beat CAL by nine wickets. UPCA -- at the Chowk Stadium -- registered a nine run victory over Rizvi Builder's Mumbai.

Chasing a victory target of 202 runs, Mumbai's Abbas Raza played an aggressive game. However, he missed his century by 10 runs after hitting 11 boundaries and a six. His departure at the total of 158 runs, led to Mumbai's collapse at 192 in the 40th over.

Earlier UPCA hanged 201 runs on board. Praveen Kumar (38) and Rohit Prakash (23) added 58 runs for the opening wicket. Ali Murtaza (30) and Anshul Kapoor (32) were the other main scorers for them.

Amardeep Sonkar 3/38, Varun Soood 2/34 and Sonu Vaidya 2/35 were the successful bowlers for Mumbai.

At the K D Singh Babu Stadium, OCA registered a nine wicket victory over CAL.

OCA with the help of fine bowling combination of medium pace and spin restricted CAL at 104 in the 36th over and in reply they romped home (107/1) sparing 7.3 overs losing the lone wicket of Haldhar Das (24).

Natraj Behra scored an unbeaten 59, while Subit Biswal (21) was the other not out batsman.

At the end of the second round matches of the round robin league, UPCA topped the table by winning both their encounters, while CAL and OCA of the same group 'A' registered one win and one defeat each while Rizvi Builder's Mumbai, after losing both their matches, was at the bottom of the group.
