Tibetans demand release of 11th Panchenlama
Mysore, Apr 25 (UNI) The Members of the Tibetans Youth Congress and Tibetan Women's Association of Bylakuppe and Kollegal took out a procession in the city, urging the United Nation's Human Rights Commission (UNHRC) to ensure the release of the 11th Panchenlama Gendum Choeky Nyima from the Chinese detention.
The protestors shouted slogans against the Chinese Government and alleged that it had been holding Panchenlama, the youngest political prisoner in the world, in detention since 2005.
Expressing concern over the young religious leader's health, education and whereabouts, they urged the UNHRC to intervene and stop the human rights violations by the Chinese Government in Tibet.
They also submitted a memorandum to the UNHRC Chairman through Deputy Commissioner Selva Kumar.
