TFA beat Army XI 1-0

Bangalore, Apr 25 (UNI) Fancied Tata Football Academy (TFA) defeated Army XI 1-0 in the inaugural encounter of the Second Division ONGC Cup 10th National Football League here today.

The all important goal came in the 24th minute when centre forward S Satish Kumar rpt S Satish Kumar converted a corner kick by Lester Mark Fernandez rpt Lester Mark Fernanadez. The TFA collected full three points from the win.

The first half saw the Army men wasting a couple of chances, including a clear chance in the 44th minute when Thirunavakarasu failed to encash on a pass by midfielder Nguernial.

In the second half, though the Army lads had full control of the proceedings , they failed to convert it into a goal.

In all six teams--the top two from Group A, B and C in the first leg, will play five matches each and top two teams from this leg will qualify for the First Division NFL.
