Teachers Transfer: K'taka to promulgate Ordinance

Belgaum, Apr 25 (UNI) The Karnataka Government will soon promulgate an Ordinance to facilitate transfers of Primary, Secondary and Pre-University college teachers, Primary and Secondary Education Minister Basavaraj Horatti informed today.

Talking to reporters here, he said as per the Ordinance, those violating the counselling norms would face one month imprisonment and a fine of Rs 5,000.

He said the government had sent a proposal to the Finance Department seeking approval for providing grants to about 13,000 unaided educational institutions in the state.

Mr Horatti said he had instructed officials to conduct a detailed survey on the requirements of educational institutions in the state.

He informed that the government would appoint 4,700 primary and high school teachers immediately to ensure that there was no scarcity of teachers. It would also take steps to provide required infrastructure in schools and colleges in the border areas, he added.
