Stamp duty waiver on SEZ plots in UP

Lucknow, Apr 25 (UNI) Uttar Pradesh government today decided to waive stamp duty on registration of plots in Special Economic Zone (SEZ) areas to be developed in the state.

A decision to this effect was taken at the state cabinet meeting here chaired by Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav.

Briefing mediapersons, UP chief secretary Navin Chandra Bajpayee said the government had decided to waive 100 per cent stamp duty on the first registration of the plot.

In another decision, it was decided to continue the compounding system on import of sugar during 2006-07, but the fee was hiked by Rs 40 per tonne.

The compounding fee on sugar import, which was Rs 400 per tonne in 2005-06 has been hiked to Rs 440 per tonne. UP would generate an additional revenue of Rs 6 lakh with the hike.

The UP government in another decision rejected the plea of the centre to relax its condition demanding appropriate land for forestation from the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) for using state land for broadening national highways.

Now, the state government would acquire the land instead of NHAI after advance payment from the central authority to replace the 10 metre land given to the Authority for broadening the highways.

The state government also approved the payscale of teachers and academicians of the newly formed Rural Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (RIMSR) at Saifai in Etawah district, which will be at par with the payscale of SGPGIMS, Lucknow.
