Sri Lanka's army commander shot, hospital says
COLOMBO, Apr 25 (Reuters) Sri Lanka's army commander was shot today and was in hospital along with 10 others, hospital sources said, amid a stalemate in the government's peace process with the Tamil Tiger rebels.
Police and the army said a blast was also heard in the capital Colombo, but it was not immediately clear if the two incidents were related.
''The army commander and 10 others have been admitted to hospital. We are resuscitating them,'' said Pushpa Soysa, the head nurse at Colombo General Hospital.
A phone operator at army headquarters said there had been a blast near army headquarters but could not give details.
