Speeding car mows pavement dwellers, kills 3

New Delhi, Apr 25 (UNI) Three people were killed and two other seriously injured, when a speeding car mowed down pavement dwellers in the Punjabi Bagh area of West Delhi.

The accident took place on the Punjabi Bagh Club Road late last night, where labourers were sleeping on the pavement, according to sources.

The driver of the car, Amit Sharma (30), has been arrested.

While three of the five injured were declared 'brought dead', two others seriously injured have been admitted to the Sanjay Gandhi Hospital.

Police said the accused, who runs a cargo business in Gurgaon, was in an inebriated state and lost control.

Four of the five victims, who lived in the slum clusters closeby, have been identified.
