Sonia tells people to ignore corrupt Opposition
Pondicherry, Apr 25 (UNI) AICC president Sonia Gandhi today exhorted the people to shun the opposition which she described as opportunistic, corrupt and autocratic.
Adressing a massive public meeting here, Ms Gandhi listed out the achievements of the Congress government here and called upon the people to vote back the Congress to power to continue the good work.
She said the Congress would ensure the supply of essential commodities, such as rice, kerosene, sugar and LPG at an affordable price, if voted to power.
Pondicherry being a small place, would attract a lot of private investment, which in turn, would generate employment opportunities, she said.
The Congress, if voted to power, would ensure the overall development of the Union Territory, she added.
Ms Gandhi, who introduced all the 21 DPA candidates in Pondicherry region at the meeting, also said that though small, Pondicherry has a good place in the heart of the Congress. The party is always sensitive towards the people of Pondicherry, she added.
She said it is the Congress, which is keen to keep up the seperate indentity of the Union Territory.
The Congress had introduced several people welfare schemes in Pondicherry and the Chief Minister had made magnificient efforts to improve the quality of education here, especially primary education, she added.
