Rajkhowa Commission takes statements of rape victims

Imphal, Apr 25 (UNI) The Rajkhowa Commission, inquiring into the alleged rape of 21 women by suspected militants at Churachandpur district of Manipur, has taken statements of some of the victims in the district.

Justice Rajkhowa, heading the judicial inquiry, had been camping in the district to take statements of the victims from April 21 to 24.

Officials said the Commission members went to the villages by helicopter due to absence of road communications and law and order situation.

'' The Commission had taken statement till yesterday. However, the victims could not be properly examined at the villages due to lack of medical facilities,'' the officials pointed out.

However, the army and police had beefed up security in the area.
