Prime accused in Phoolan Devi murder case arrested
Kolkata, Apr 25 (UNI) A special task force of the Delhi Police arrested prime accused in the Phoolan Devi murder case Sher Singh Rana, who escaped from the Tihar jail in 2004, from here last night.
Official sources said he was arrested from the Lake Garden area where he had been residing for sometime. The Delhi Police was tipped-off by one of his accomplices.
The sources said Rana had been flown to Delhi and kept in the Lodhi Colony police station from where he will be produced in the court today.
The accused, who had been lodged in Delhi's high-security Tihar jail, had managed to escape two years ago.
Bandit-turned-politician Phoolan Devi was killed in the national capital at her Ashoka road residence in July 2001.
