As many as 224 pirated VCDs of various Bollywood and Hollywood films, apart from 18 CD writers and 400 blank CDs were recovered from the unit, located at the Shaheedpur Gaon in West Delhi, when the IPR wing of the Crime branch of Delhi police, on April 20, conducted a raid there on information provided by the investigators of the anti-piracy wing of the Motion Picture Association (MPA).

Two persons, Praveshi Dayal and Preetam, who own the unit, were arrested by the police.

The police also recovered from the unit 10,800 audio cassettes, 2800 blank audio cassettes and 3,80000 audio cassette inlay cards.

Says Mr Mike Ellis, senior vice president and regional director, Asia pacific for the MPA,''the raid represents a considerable achievement in the battle against copyright theft that terribly damages creative industries and people who rely on these industries for their livelihoods.'' Recently, the MPA launched in India a burner Rewards programme that provides significant cash rewards for people who provide information that leads to succesful raids on illegal and unauthorised CD-R/DVD-R labs or operations by infringers in Delhi and Mumbai and the four Southern cities.
