Panel to review MPLAD scheme

Chandigarh, Apr 25 (UNI) The Haryana government has constituted a state-level committee under the chairmanship of the Chief Secretary to reivew the implementation of the Member Parliament Local Area Development (MPLAD) scheme.

An official spokesman said the committee would monitor the flow of funds at various channels including allocations, releases, utilisation and unspent balances.

It would also ensure that the schemes were implemented as per the guidelines issued by the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation and no addition or alteration was done.

He said the committee would also look into the complaints received by it in respect of the implementation of the programme including complaints of misappropriate or diversion of the funds of the scheme and recommend follow up action.

The committee would also consider all Evaluation Reports, Area Officers Report and such other reports sent to it by the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation and take corrective measures wherever required, he added.

The other members of the committee were Financial Commissoners and Secretaries of Planning, Development and Panchayat, Education, Public Health, Power, Health, Irrigation, Social Welfare, Public Works Department (B&R), Animal Husbandry and Urban Development Department.

The Director, Rural Development will be the Member Secretary of the committee.
