NEC sets up NEREC to strengthen education infrastructure

Aizawl, Apr 25 (UNI) North Eastern Council (NEC) has set up North Eastern Regional Educational Council (NEREC) to strengthen education infrastructure in the NE region.

The NEC has also planned also to start Information Technology in the regional schools, official sources said here today.

All the Vice-Chancellors across the NE universities would be NEREC members.

The council would focus on Science and Mathematics, train primary teachers and help the schools in translating Science and Maths books in local languages.

NEREC has plans to set up point-to-point high speed links in ten NE universities, including states of Mizoram, Nagaland and Sikkim.

NEREC would focus on skill development and training of the youths in diverse sectors.
