Mahajan continues on dialysis; remains critical

Mumbai, Apr 25 : After three days and two surgeries, the condition of senior BJP leader Pramod Mahajan continues to be critical.

Mr Mahajan continues to remain on dialysis after his second surgery on Sunday evening.

He remained on life support system in intensive care unit (ICU) of the Hinduja hospital even as various vital parameters remained unstable. Though bleeding from liver had stopped, functioning of his kidney is still poor. Mr Mahajan is on renal replacement therapy to drain out toxins from his blood, hospital sources said.

Medication to stabilise his blood pressure was also being given.

Third intervention, if any, will be decided after a comprehensive review of his health condition by Indian and British doctors later today, sources said.

The 56-year-old Mahajan has been battling for life since Saturday morning when he was grievously wounded, allegedely by his younger brother Pravin (45), who had pummed three bullets into his body shattering his liver, pancreas and intestine.
