Lorry owners Association to support DMK

Chennai, Apr 25 (UNI) The Tamil Nadu half body and tipper lorry Owners General Welfare Association today announced support to DMK- led Democratic Progressive Alliance(DPA) candidates in the May 8 assembly elections in Tamil Nadu.

In a statement here, Association's General Secretary Mr S S Balaji said the decision followed the assurance given by the DMK and its Deputy General Secretary M K Stalin that if they came to power, sand business should be regularised.

He alleged that at present sand business was being handled by a private person in an illegal manner, in collusion with the ruling AIADMK, leading to harship to the public, besides causing several loss to the tune of several crores of rupees to the state exchequer.
