KLNLF militant lynched

Diphu, Apr 25 (UNI) A Karbi Longri National Liberation Front (KLNLF) cadre was lynched and another injured in Rongphong village in Borlanfa locality, 25 km from Diphu police station, late last night, police said today.

Three KLNLF cadres had come to extort money from a Hindi speaking family, police said.

Police said one of the miitants succumbed to his injuries on the way to hospital after being beaten up by the villagers while his associate was injured. The third militant managed to escape under the cover of darkness.

A suspected cadre of the outfit had also been picked up for interrogation, police added.

The injured ultra has been rushed to the Diphu civil hospital in the absence of medical staff in the Borlanfa primary health centre.

One AK 47 rifle and 25 rounds of ammunition were recovered from the militants.
