KEC secures power distribution project worth USD 63.43 mn

Mumbai, Apr 25 (UNI) Power transmission comapny KEC International has secured power distribution project totaling USD 63.43 million from the Ethiopian Electric Power Corporation (EEPCO).

The project involves construction of power distribution networks, besides, construction of 33 kv distribution lines for 1,400 km and setting up 460 transformers alongwith electrification of 73 circles throughout Ethiopia.

The company is already engaged in constructing more than 2,000 km of 33 kV lines, which would entail rural electrification of nearly 40,000 villages in Ethiopia.

The company's Managing Director Ramesh Chandak, while announcing this deal said, ''KEC's long standing experience has helped it to bag this large order. Apart from transmission lines, KEC has also developed competency in supply and construction of distribution infrastructure and rural electrification.'' The company is currently engaged in executing orders in various countries such as Abu Dhabi, Libya, Tunisia, Algeria, Iraq, Afghanistan, Oman, Zambia, Nigeria and Etiopia.
