Karat's statement ''unfortunate and unjustified'': Ravi
Palakkad, Apr 25 (UNI) Union Overseas Indian Affairs Minister Vayalar Ravi today said CPI(M) General Secretary Prakash Karat's reported statement that the UPA government at the Centre was violating the CMP as ''unfortunate and unjustified.'' Talking to mediapersons here, he said such statements would only help to substantiate the BJP's claim that the UPA government would collapse after the Assembly elections.
Mr Ravi clarified that as the Congress' manefesto in the last Lok Sabha elections was based on the CMP iteself, it could not deviate or violate it.
Besides this, a single party alone could not make any changes in the CMP and the changes, if needed, could be done only through discussions with all the parties in the Front, he added.
Mr Ravi claimed that the UDF would get absolute majority in the Assembly elections.
