JK Paper's nine months profits before tax up by 89 pc
Mumbai, Apr 25 (UNI) JK Paper Ltd, one of India's largest paper company, saw the profits before tax(PBT) increase by 89 per cent to Rs 39.77 crore for the nine months ended March 31, 2006.
Company's gross sales during the third quarter also witnessed an increase of 18 per cent at Rs 213.26 crore in comparison to Rs 181.08 crore. The profits before depreciation and tax (PBDT) increased by 93 per cent to Rs 25.07 crore against Rs 13 crore for the corresponding quarter of the previous year, a company release issued today said.
Commenting on the companys results, JK Paper's Managing Director, Harsh Pati Singhania said, '' High operating efficiencies at both plants, improved price realisation and reduction in interest cost have led to this improved performance. Demand growth continues to be strong.Company's performance would have been even better but for the steep increase in hard-wood and bamboo costs.'' Sales volumes from the company's coated paper facility at unit JKPM have been steadily increasing quarter on quarter. The company has also successfully commissioned its Oxygen delignification plant at Unit CPM, which has resulted in improved product quality and more environment friendly operation. the release added.
