Gulf Oil, Ashok Leyland launches co-branded oils
Chennai, Apr 25: Driven by customer needs and advancements in technology, the more than century-old Gulf Oil Corporation Limited (GOCL) and Ashok Leyland launched their co-branded oils for their entire range of Ashok Leyland commercial vehicles.
Speaking at the launch function here last night, Mr N C Sekharan, Head Lubes, SBU, GOCL, said this initiative of launching co-branded oils would go a long way in meeting their joint commitment towards lowering the operating costs of vehicle owners.
He said this was the fist long drain engine oil in Indian ndustry developed by Ashok Leyland and Gulf Oil.
The product range comprised of 12 different grades, including Engine oils, Tranmission oils, Greases, brake fluids, power steering fluid and Hydraulic oil.
Mr Sekharan said this range of hi-tech co-branded engine oils were completely compatibble with the low emission engine requirements conforming to BS-II and BS-III emission regualtions.
''The OCL's R and D center at Silvaasa has developed this exclusive long drain engine oil for the latest low emission BS-II and BS-III vehicles of Ashok Leyland. Based on the exhaustive field trials conducted jointly by GOCL and Ashok Leyland, this exclusive oil was approved for extended oil change intervals'', Mr Vinod K Dasari, COO, Ashok Leyland, said.
He said the customers would stand to benefit with longer intervals for engine oil change -- from the current 16,000 kms to 36,000 kms in long haul, 125 per cent increase in oil service period, and from 16,000 kms to 36,000 kms. 12,000 kms to 24,000 kms in the stop-and-go city application.
Replying to a question, Mr Sekharan said, with the launch of co-branded oils, the company was expecting a revenue increase of 25 to 30 per cent in the commercial vehicle segment.
The products would be available in various pack sizes catering to bulk and after market requirements and sold nationally through the 400 strong distributor network of GOCL and 250 strong network of Ashok Leyland dealers and service stations.
