Farooque campaigns for 'School Chalein Hum'

Ranchi, Apr 25 :After Mahendra Singh Dhoni it was the turn of film star Farooque Shaikh to campaign for the 'School Chalein Hum - Abhyyan, 2006' to bring down the drop out rate of children going to school in Jharkhand.

The Jharkhand government roped in Mr Saikh to enroll 20 children in the Ranchi district on the first day of the campaign yesterday.

Most of these children were out of school.

The actor made emotional appeals to parents to get their children back to school.

Mr Saikh participated in the campaign at the invitation of UNICEF and the government of Jharkhand.

He said that by undertaking such a campaign, Jharkhand has become a model for other states.

Mr Saikh visited a school at Madhukam and Tupudana.

Addressing a gathering of parents and children, Mr Saikh said, ''India was currently undergoing major changes and the younger generation would reap the benefit tomorrow. One can say that India of tomorrow will be lovely, but only those who have the strength will succeed, adding that the strength will come from education.

Those who miss out will watch from the windows''.
