EC tells HC it has taken all measures for fair poll

Kochi, Apr 25 (UNI) Election Commission of India today informed the Kerala High Court that it had taken all possible measures to ensure free and fair election at Malampuzha constituency.

The Commission submitted that it had identified 19 sensitive booths and sufficient police force had been deployed there.

The Commission made this submission when the Division Bench comprising Justice M N Krishnan and Justice K T Sankaran considering a writ petition filed by UDF candidate Satheesan Pacheni seeking a direction to deploy sufficient and adequate police force at Malampuzha on the polling day.

He submitted that in the constituency where CPI(M) leader V S Achuthanandan was contesting, law and order problems were apprehended on polling day.

It was also submitted that as polling in Alappuzha district was over, there was more possibility of exercising franchise by impersonating CPI(M) activists.
