DS constructions awarded gauge conversion of Atur-Salem stretch
Mumbai, Apr 25 (UNI) India's leading infrastructure developer DS Constructions Ltd has been awarded the gauge conversion project of Attur-Salem Section on the Southern railway at a cost of Rs 61.48 crore.
To be completed over a period of 12 months, the project envisages the gauge conversion of existing meter gauge single line to broad gauge railway line for the 56 km Attur-Salem section of Southern railway, a company release issued today said.
Acording to company Manging Director, Ms Narula, ''this is our second significant project in the railway sector after the Viramgram-Mahesana Section gauge conversion project, the first built operate transfer(BOT) in the railways, which we had completed well within the stipulated time.'' ''Work on the Attur-Salem stetch has already commenced and we are hopeful of completing the project within schedule. This is a vital project as, once completed, it wil enhance the connectivity and provide a faster link for those travelling to Chennai from Salem and Coimbatore,'' she further added.
