Driver shot dead, three injured in Tripura
Agartala, Apr 25 (UNI) Banned National liberation Front of Tripura (NLFT) ambushed a lorry on the Ambassa-Gandacherra road in Tripura's Dhalai district and shot dead driver and injured three labourers.
Police sources said here today that a brick loaded lorry of Boarder Road Organisation (BRO) was attacked by a group of armed NLFT militants at Ganganagar about 30-km from Dhalai District headquarters of Ambassa last night and shot dead the driver and injured three labourers.
All the injured were admitted to a hospital.
Superintendent of Police Arindam Nath rushed to the spot immediately with reinforcement and started combing operation.
The incident took place at about 1800 hours soon after the withdrawl of road patrolling for the day by the security forces.
Meanwhile, two more hardcore militants belonging to NLFT (BM) surrendered to the Udaipur Sub-division, police officer in south Tripura said yesterday.
Both the rebels, who fled from their hideouts were identified as Nabahadur Malsum and Bikram Bahadur Malsum. The rebels left their camp following infighting in the group.
With this surrender, in all 9 NLFT (BM) have laid down their arms and ammunition within a week. Earlier seven insurgents of the same faction surrendered before the Assam Rifles at Kanchanpur in North Tripura on April 21.
