Constable arrested on rape charges

Mumbai, Apr 25 (UNI) A police constable, attached to the Naigaum police headquarters, has been arrested on rape charges.

The constable was arrested on the basis of a complaint lodged by a girl with the Kashimira police today.

According to the complaint, the constable, Sunil Nadekar, had an affair with the 19-year-old girl since the past two years. He had physical relations with the girl on the promise of marrying her, as per the complaint lodged with the Kashimira police under the jurisdiction of the Thane (rural) police.

However, the constable subsequently retracted from the promise following which the girl lodged the complaint.
