Congress ready for debate on factionalism

Hyderabad, Apr 25 (UNI) The Congress Legislature Party (CLP) today said it was prepred for a debate either in the Assembly or outside on factionalism as suggested by the leader of the opposition Mr N Chandrababu Naidu.

Talking to newspersons here, Government Chief Whip N Kiran Kumar Reddy said the Congress party would move a motion for a special debate on factionalism during the next session of the assembly or would even share a platform with the opposition TDP to discuss the issue.

Mr Reddy said Chief Minister Dr Y S Rajasekhara Reddy had already taken a lead in the matter by announcing that the Congress party would not give tickets to persons with factionalist background in the ensuing Panchayat elections and advised the TDP to follow suit.

PCC Chief Dr K Keshava Rao said Congress was determined to put an end to factionalism. He said there would be no place for persons with factionalist background. Stating that the party had already started weeding out factionalists, Dr Rao said such persons were denied tickets in the last elections.
