Cabinet gives nod to employment guarantee scheme
Imphal, Apr 25 :The Manipur cabinet has approved the rules and guidelines for the state rural employment guarantee scheme which was carried out as part of the National Employment Guarantee Scheme.
Officials said the cabinet meeting last evening was chaired by the Chief Minister. The scheme would be taken up at Tamenglong district of Manipur and unemployed youths would be ensured 100 days of employment in a year. The Centre would provide 90 per cent of the required amount for the implementation of the scheme, officials added.
The scheme would be monitored by the Employment Guarantee Council and the Minister of Rural Development would be the Chairman of the council, officials sources said. Planning, finance and rural development officials, local representatives and women members would also be part of the council.
Payment would be done after two weeks and there would be an equal pay structure for both men and women, sources informed.
The Cabinet also decided to upgrade two posts of Additional DGP and a post of Additional principal chief conservator of forests. All security personnel killed in insurgency related incidents would be paid Rs 2 lakhs.
The Cabinet discussed about the capital project which would be taken up in the state. A composite complex having secretariat, High Court and Assembly would be constructed at an approximate cost of Rs 300 crores in Imphal.
The Cabinet also decided to provide Rs one lakh as ex-gratia to all those who died in the building collapse at Singjamei earlier.
