300 SSI units registered last year
Srinagar, Apr 25 : The Jammu and Kashmir government has sanctioned Rs 2.5 crore under the Prime Minister's Rozgar Yogna (PMRY) in favour of 215 cases in south Kashmir district of Anantnag, where as many as 300 small scale industrial (SSI) units have been registered generating employment avenues for 1,354 people.
This was revealed at a meeting of officers held at Anantnag to review the achievements under different sectors with the District Development Commissioner Anantnag Baseer Ahmad Khan in chair.
The Handicrafts department registered 878 artisans with the loan facility of Rs 31 lakh while 628 cases under self employment were sponsored, an official spokesman said today.
Margin money of Rs 1.13 crore was disbursed among 202 cases benefiting 319 unemployed youth of the district.
While interest and capital subsidy of Rs 82.34 lakh was disbursed among 548 cases benefiting 885 unemployed youth, over Rs 3 crore were utilised on nutrition covering 50,424 beneficiaries under the Integrated Child Development Scheme (ICDS). An amount of Rs 2.17 crore were paid to about 22,000 beneficiaries under the physically handicapped, National Family Benefit Scheme (NFBS) and various social welfare schemes in the district during the period.
Pre-matric scholarships worth Rs 40.49 lakh was disbursed among Gujjar and Bakerwal students and 45,770 Kgs cocoon were produced with plantation of 1.37 lakh mulberry plants in the district, the spokesman said.
